This unique 63-acre site is home to the
Museum of Natural History, Children's Museum,
Adderley Town Historic Site, Marathon Wild Bird
Rescue Center and an extensive nature trail
system that leads through a dense tropical
forest to a spectacular view of Florida Bay. Open
Mon-Sat, 9-5 and Sun, 12-5. Adults $7.50,
seniors(65 up)$6, students $4, children(under
6)free.
Pigeon Key
Said to be named for large flocks of
White-crowned pigeons (Columba
leucocephala Linnaeus) which once roosted
here. During the building of the Florida East
Coast Railway Key West Extension, a major
construction depot was located here, the
jumping off point for construction of the Seven
Mile Bridge. A number of buildings from the
Flagler era remain on the island. Pigeon Key is
listed on the National Register of Historic
Places.
Pidgeon Key is located off old Seven Mile Bridge
and is accessible by foot or by shuttle service
from the Pigeon Key Visitor Center on Knight's
Key. Admission charged. Children free.
Seven Mile Bridge

The Old Seven Mile Bridge was an engineering marvel in its day and is now on the National
Register of Historic Places. It rested on a record 546 concrete piers. No cars are allowed on the
old bridge today, but a 2.2mile segment is open for biking, walking, and roller blading ending at
historic Pigeon Key.
The Seven Mile Bridge is one of the most-photographed images in the Keys. Actually measuring
6.79 mi long, it connects the Middle and Lower Keys and is believed to be the world's longest
segmental bridge. It has 39 expansion joints separating its cement sections. Each April,
runners gather in Marathon for the annual Seven Mile Bridge Run.

The Turtle Hospital was opened in 1986 with four main goals: 1) repair injured sea turtles and
return them to the wild, 2) educate the public through outreach programs to local schools, 3)
conduct and assist with research which aids the sea turtles (in conjunction with state
universities), and 4) work toward environmental legislation which makes the beaches and
water safe and clean for sea turtles.
Price of admission includes an approximate 45 minute educational guide of the hospital with a
presentation and a 45 minute guide through the sea turtle rehabilitation area.
Guests staying at Hidden Harbor Motel receive a complimentary guided educational experience.
